Sen. Dennis Mendiola (R-Rota) received a donation of $3,000 for a bus stop rehabilitation project on Rota from the Rotary Club of Saipan last June 25 during the service organization’s weekly meeting at the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.
Mendiola said the Rotary Club donation will help finance the repair of a bus stop in Sinapalo 2, which has been experiencing severe leaks due to weather conditions over the years.
He said Rota Mayor Aubry Manglona Hocog has plans to revitalize much of Rota’s infrastructure, including bus stops, to better serve the Rota’s school children.
“However, this particular bus stop has been in need of renovation for some time. Due to funding issues, Mayor Hocog had to prioritize other projects. With the assistance from the Rotary Club, Mayor Hocog can now proceed to complete the bus stop project in Sinapalo 2, aiming to finish it before the school year starts,” he said.
Mendiola also said that Hocog intends to move forward with this project immediately, but there are still procurement processes that need to be followed, which could halt its progress.
Nonetheless, he said Hocog does not intend to delay the project. Her goal is to complete it before the next school year begins. Hocog also intends to display the Rotary Club of Saipan’s logo on the bus stop as a gesture of appreciation for their generous donation.
Mendiola then expressed his gratitude to Rotary Club of Saipan.
“On behalf of Mayor Aubry Manglona Hocog, the Rota Legislative Delegation, the Rota Municipal Council, and the people of Rota, we extend our sincere appreciation to the Rotary Club of Saipan for this generous donation. We acknowledge that the Rotary Club of Saipan has been a dedicated partner of our municipality, providing assistance in various forms, including typhoon response, educational materials for our children, and funding for projects and programs. We look forward to continuing the collaborative relationship Mayor Hocog has cultivated with the Rotary Club of Saipan and other organizations to enhance the quality of life in Rota.”
In other news, The Rotary Club of Saipan will be having a “Celebrity Bagging” tomorrow, June 29, and would like to invite the public from 9am to 10am at Joeten Hafadai Shopping Center in Garapan and Triple J Payless SuperFresh & Truckload Store in Susupe.
